Raisins: history teaches us that the people of the ancient Mediterranean knew how to sun-dry grapes in order to produce raisins. The Phoenicians and ancient Armenians sold raisins to the Greeks and Roman, who offered them as a prize during athletic competitions. Much later, the Crusaders brought them back to western Europe, where they became part of the local diet.

A good raisin captures the essence of summer. The most Greek variety is the sultana (sultanina), which grown in many parts of Greece. But the region most closely associated with raisin production is Corinth, where an eponymus.
